Murphy Geospatial is pleased to announce that our IT team has been nominated for a Tech Excellence Award in the category of SME IT Project of the Year.
This nomination is in relation to the implementation of a digital transformation which was developed to support Murphy Geospatial’s rapidly growing storage needs. The team worked with Irish organisation, Savenet to execute the digital transformation required to account for the vast amounts of data generated by continuous surveying and geospatial activity. Murphy Geospatial decided to move its core data storage, backup, and archiving to cloud services.
The project aimed to enable efficient data processing for individuals and teams across multiple locations, including third-party teams in different countries. To meet the data and caching requirements for the next three years, file caching services were deployed at six sites, considering an estimated annual data growth of 300 terabytes.
IT Manager Kieron Goucher said: “We’re delighted to be nominated and grateful to the team at Savenet who helped make this process and transformation become reality. Despite tight timeframes and immediate need for a storage solution, the team were responsive to our needs and successfully fulfilled a comprehensive wish list within a tight timeframe, including repurposing hardware, replacing storage, and migrating data to the cloud. This digital transformation was essential to support our continuing and rapid growth and delivering a best-in-class geospatial service to our clients in Ireland and the UK and to our teams who work remotely, managing large data across geographically dispersed locations.”
Members of the Murphy Geospatial team, as well as some of the Savenet Solutions team will attend the awards on 25th May.
