Geo Drive Mobile Mapping
Mobile Mapping is a specialised technology designed to enhance the efficiency and precision of geospatial data collection in the built environment. Geo Drive Mobile Mapping can cost-effectively capture up to 100 kilometres of geospatial survey data in a single day.
Mobile Mapping – what is it, and how can it be used on your project?
Mobile mapping is an innovative technology that transforms the way we capture, measure, and analyse the world around us. Utilising state-of-the-art sensors and equipment mounted on moving vehicles, such as cars, trains or specially designed vehicles like Geo Drive Mobile Mapping gather high-resolution geospatial data while on the move.
This approach allows for the efficient collection of vast amounts of data, covering extensive areas that would be time-consuming and costly to survey using traditional methods. Geo Drive Mobile Mapping can collect up to 100km of data in a single day.
How does it work?
At the heart of mobile mapping is the integration of various technologies including GPS (Global Positioning System), LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging),and photogrammetry. These components work in together to accurately capture and record the environment to a high specification working to your requirements.
GPS provides precise location information, ensuring data is geographically anchored. Our system uses two GPS systems for maximum accuracy.
LiDAR sensors emit laser beams to measure distances and generate detailed 3D models of the surroundings.
Photogrammetry uses photography to capture the physical reality, enabling the creation of maps and 3D models. Our mobile mapper uses a 360-degree camera and other high-resolution cameras to capture imagery.

Meeting Net Zero targets with mobile mapping
What can Geo Drive Mobile Mapping be used for?_
Provide CAD lines accompanied by a dense point cloud view and panoramic view. This will allow clients to immerse themselves in the street environment and gain a better understanding of the surroundings.
Utilise Mobile Mapping technology to access areas that are restricted or inaccessible to drones. By collecting under-tree data, the survey can be augmented to provide comprehensive point cloud information. This data can then be used for volume calculations and other relevant analyses.
Offers a quick and cost-effective survey solution for roads and railway assets using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. This will enable efficient management and maintenance of these assets.
Perform country or county level verification of road bridges on behalf of road authorities in Ireland and the UK. This verification process will ensure compliance and safety standards for road infrastructure.
Combine topographical (TOPO) and utility surveys simultaneously using Mobile Mapping (MM) technology in conjunction with RAPTOR (GPR system). This integrated approach provides clients with a quick and discreet survey process, resulting in savings on traffic management.
Conduct surveys along road and rail corridors to capture data on vegetation and trees. This information is crucial for identifying potential hazards such as overhanging branches that may impact traffic safety.
Offers a defect detection survey to road authorities in the UK and Ireland. This survey can be conducted using AI algorithms supporting automatic options, allowing for efficient identification and assessment of road conditions.
Enhances safety by assessing highway layouts as well as the positioning of street furniture using spatial data. This assessment allows for the identification of necessary solutions to facilitate the transport or manoeuvring of oversized cargo / vehicles.
Conducts pre-surveys of road corridors to assess feasibility for future pipeline, cabling projects and wind turbine route planning. This proactive approach enables better planning and decision-making in infrastructure development.
