Rail Surveys

We work closely with infrastructure owners, principal contractors, engineers and designers, to provide the geospatial certainty needed to safely maintain and construct our rail infrastructure.

We have extensive experience working with Network Rail, Transport for London, Irish Rail, Skanska, Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Mott MacDonald, and AMCO, helping them to successfully complete work on the renewal and construction of major projects, including HS2, Crossrail, Luis Line, as well as various station upgrades.

From the creation of as-built models, laser scan data, and track surveys and gauging, through to monitoring and utility surveying, our railway surveys provide geospatial certainty across the project lifecycle.

What problems can rail surveys solve?

  • Infrastructure planning
  • Route optimisation
  • Safety assessment
  • Capacity analysis
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Cost estimation for construction and maintenance
  • Integration with other transport modes

What are the benefits of rail surveys?

  • To ensure the safety of rail infrastructure by identifying any potential hazards or issues that could lead to accidents or derailments
  • To identify areas in need of repair or replacement for proactive maintenance planning that helps prevent costly breakdowns or service disruptions
  • By identifying and addressing issues early on, rail surveys can help prevent more costly repairs or replacements down the line. This can lead to significant cost savings in the long run.
  • To provide valuable data that can be used to make informed decisions regarding infrastructure upgrades, maintenance schedules, and investment planning
  • To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standard
  • To understand the condition of rail assets, such as tracks, bridges, and tunnel for better asset management and helps extend the lifespan of these assets

What can rail surveys be used for?

To provide accurate measurements and data for planning and designing rail projects and help identify potential issues or obstacles that could impact the construction or operation of the rail system.
