Non-destructive testing (NDT) survey to locate and map a structural arrangement.
Murphy Geospatial was requested to carry out the NDT investigation survey to locate and map the structural arrangement within three concrete slabs at a building undergoing construction at Capital Dock, one of the largest mixed-use developments in Ireland.
Our task was to provide a detailed and accurate structural arrangement survey so that the client could choose the most appropriate position to cut out the floor slabs and fit the new concrete staircases.
We have a wide range of experience in conducting NDT surveys, which determine the strength and integrity of an object without damaging it.
Our highly-skilled team was assigned to investigate the site and to carry out the structural scan at the desired sections of the concrete slabs.
The crew used high-resolution GSSI ground penetrating radar equipped with 1.6 GHZ centre frequency antenna designed for structural scans, as well as the latest GPR technology and software to assure the most detailed and accurate result of the structural significance. The engineering team completed the NDT investigation and the survey of the scanned areas with high accuracy and confidence and subsequently post-processed all the GPR and geospatial data that was captured.
The structural survey was planned and executed in a very short time frame to accommodate the project requirements and to support the client’s construction schedule.
We mapped all the steel and metal structural elements and the reinforcement arrangement to specifically detect existing post-tension ducts within the concrete slab prior to the planned sections being cut out.
We delivered the technical report and 3D Auto CAD drawing with accurate reinforced concrete arrangement and post tension ducts. The results allowed the client to choose the most appropriate sections for slab cut outs while not jeopardising the structural integrity.
