Project summary:
A non-destructive testing (NDT) live mark-up scan to locate the top reinforced concrete layer.
The brief:
Murphy Geospatial was asked to carry out a live mark-up NDT survey of the concrete columns and slabs through several stages for Spear Street Capital at Belfield Office Park, on behalf of construction experts Structure Tone.
We have a wide range of experience in conducting NDT surveys, which determine the strength and integrity of an object without damaging it. With this survey, we were required to provide reliable and prompt information on the reinforcement arrangements needed to prevent hazards through coring or drilling in specific sections.
Our work:
The entire structural scan was planned and executed in a very short timeframe to accommodate the project requirements and to support the client’s construction schedule.
Our highly-skilled NDT team was mobilised promptly to ensure that the construction process was undisturbed.
The crew used high-resolution GSSI ground penetrating radar equipped with 1.6 GHZ centre frequency antenna to accurately detect the top layer of reinforcement.
Results:
The detected reinforcement top layer was permanently marked in situ (the live mark-up). The findings were discussed with the site project manager, providing trusted and reliable structural information prior to the coring taking place.
As we have shown with this successful project, we deliver services to equip our clients with the data and information they need to make critical decisions at every stage of their project or asset life cycle.
Our experienced teams engage with clients to provide exceptional levels of customer service with extensive resources and highly developed workflows, which have been refined through the delivery of over 20,000 projects over almost 40 years.
